Cotton is the oldest natural plant fibre derived from the cotton bush (lot. Gossypium), which has been known for over 7,000 years. Cotton fabrics with varying properties are produced when weaving yarns with different technologies. Weaving is the production of fabric from yarn, where two perpendicular yarn systems are woven in a certain order on a weaving machine – longitudinal (warp) and transverse (weft). The denser the fabric, the more cotton must be woven in and thus, the higher the quality of the textile.

Allow us to remind you that both satin and percale are types of cotton. The essential difference between these fabrics is due to the weaving technology.
